Refugee Resettlement

Since 2016, Knollwood has supported refugees arriving in our community. Good Neighbor Teams have provided assistance and friendship to families from Syria, Afghanistan, and the Congo, in partnership with World Relief. Knollwood members also facilitate a local Refugee Advisory Coalition, which works systematically to enhance services. We provide child care while mothers take ESL classes. In the summer, we contribute to educational and recreational programs for newly arrived families and children.

The journey of the Good Neighbor Team/Welcoming Refugees continues with our friends from Afghanistan as they acclimate to life in the United States. The men are all working and managing their finances well, and the women provide a comfortable home for the family.

Knollwood also supported World Relief Triad’s work with newly arrived families in 2024 through an Epiphanytide donation drive for kitchen items. Church members contributed over 175 items in January to help World Relief furnish homes for refugees.

In June 2024, Knollwood collected donations to set up a household for a newly arrived Syrian family that is related to a family the church previously befriended. The new family had spent eight years in a stark refugee camp.
