Habitat for Humanity

Knollwood partners with Habitat for Humanity and others to construct or repair homes for low-income residents in the community. We make an annual commitment to the Faith Build, a collaborative effort with brothers and sisters from other churches, temples, and mosques.

Knollwood members support the work of Habitat for Humanity in a variety of ways. Several assist Habitat in the building of new homes for families in our community. Habitat was recently awarded a $2.1 million grant from the city of Winston-Salem to build 13 new homes in the Happy Hill neighborhood. The first homes in this project were scheduled to be built in spring 202.

In addition to new builds, Knollwood members assist Habitat by removing salvageable items from existing homes (e.g., cabinets, lighting fixtures, doors) and making them available for sale at Habitat ReStores. Other members build or assemble furniture furniture that is sold at ReStores. The money raised at the ReStores helps fund new homes Habitat is building.
