“Punished for Dreaming” Book Study

May 9, 2024
6:00 pm
7:00 pm
First Baptist Church on Fifth

Would you like a deeper dive into the ideas presented by Dr. Bettina Love? Join a coalition of local faith communities, including St. Paul’s Episcopal, First Baptist on Fifth, and Knollwood Baptist, on four Thursday evenings in May to discuss, plan, and imagine equitable educational opportunities in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.

The conversation will center on Dr. Love’s latest book, Punished for Dreaming: How School Reform Harms Black Children and How We Heal.

We’ll meet at First Baptist Church on Fifth from 6-7 PM on the following Thursdays: May 9, 16, 23, and 30. Each week’s discussion will build on previous conversations, so please plan to attend all four sessions.

Our facilitator will be Richard Watts, former administrator in the WS/FC Schools and current Board of Education member and assistant director of outreach at Crosby Scholars.
