WCC Community Room

Join us on the second Tuesday of November, one week after the election, as we learn more about both the strategies and progress to date on achieving grade-level literacy through the topic “Building Literacy AND the Joy of Reading — Where Are We Now?” One of Knollwood’s signature initiatives, Faith in the City invites participants to deepen community conversations about complex issues and find ways to work together to address injustices.

Our panelists will be Trisha McManus, superintendent of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools; Esharan Monroe-Johnson, executive director of Love Literacy; and Adam Hill, executive director of Forsyth Futures. They will share information on the various initiatives being used in moving forward with this goal and the impact these are having.

We’ll also learn about new ways we are measuring literacy, in addition to test scores. We should leave armed with information to celebrate and advocate for expanded support of excellence in our public schools.

Faith in the City hosts from October through May a variety of speakers who provide current information and facilitate provocative discussions about how education systems can better serve all students.

Faith in the City meets in-person from noon to 1 PM, with a Zoom option available. For further information or the Zoom link, contact faithinthecitykbc@gmail.com.
