Rev. Lucrecia “Chris” Norman

Minister to Weekday School and Retirees

Chris came to Knollwood as director of the Through-the-Week School in 1997 after having served as an associate minister to youth and children in other churches, as a preschool teacher, and as a preschool assistant director. In 2010, Knollwood called her to be its minister to senior adults and weekday preschool.

She was ordained in 1985—the first woman to be ordained at First Baptist Church in Elkin, N.C., and the first in the Elkin Valley Baptist Association. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Christian education from High Point College and a master of divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School.

Chris is married to Fred Norman, Jr., and they have two grown children: a daughter Casey and a son Russell, who is married to Allison Dellinger Norman. Chris loves reading, spending time with her family, and watching and attending sports events, especially Duke football and men’s and women’s basketball. She loves cats, especially her own Yosef. When time allows, she likes to meditate by the ocean.
