Growing throughout our lives

Following Jesus, engaging society faithfully and justly, knowing and interpreting the Bible, loving self and others—we reach for these goals throughout our lives.

At Knollwood, faith formation opportunities stretch across the changing continuum of adulthood. Week by week, month by month, we gather in groups that meet together to nurture faith. Learn more about our varied and rich offerings:

Empty Bowls

March 20, 2024

Children and adults will glaze bowls for the Empty Bowls fundraiser of the Second Harvest Food Bank of NWNC.

Spring Flower Holder

April 11, 2024

Participants age 16 and up will construct a ceramic flower holder. We’ll use slabs of clay and various materials to give the pieces texture and character.

Sunday morning Bible study

Each Sunday morning all around our church campus, groups of adults gather to study, converse, debate, pray, listen, and simply walk alongside one another in life and faith.

Some groups share a particular life stage; others are brought together by their approach to faith formation. All classes value mutual support and community.

Come find your place in one of our classes, from 9:30–10:30 a.m.

Wednesday night programs

Join us for a fellowship meal and program on Wednesday nights. As weather permits, we will offer outside seating in the Courtyard from 5:00 - 6:00 PM. Bring your own take-out or picnic dinner and enjoy a shared meal, including drinks and desserts provided by KBC, before heading inside to the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 for announcements and prayer, followed by a faith formation program. Masks required inside. In the case of inclement weather, dinner for adults will be canceled.

Faith formation in small groups

In addition to participating in our thriving adult Sunday school classes, many Knollwood members nurture their faith, curiosity, and relationships by gathering in small groups at varied times and places.

Special series, speakers, workshops, and retreats

Sometimes we need to go deeper than our regular schedules will allow—deeper into a high-stakes topic or deeper into cultivating spiritual practices.

Special events in the past have included:

  • Contemplative retreats
  • Annual Women’s retreat

Especially for our senior adults

Our senior adult ministry provides older adults with opportunities for spiritual nurture, even as we recognize them as vital resources for service and programming. This ministry includes intergenerational activities, fellowship and bonding, service, and education.

A Senior Adult Ministry Team plans and executes various activities for our seniors as well as maintaining an up-to-date list of those who are completely homebound, in coordination with ministerial staff. This team also coordinates helping hands, such as:

  • Delivering audio copies of the Sunday worship services to the homebound
  • Taking homebound members flowers at Christmas and Easter
  • Participating in the Knollwood Meals on Wheels program
  • Maintaining a list of volunteer drivers for Meals on Wheels

Watch for upcoming senior adult activities!
