children's calendar and special events

Parent/Child Series:

Mother/Son Bowling: A mother/son afternoon of bowling is fun for all!

Father/Daughter Dance: Just in time for Valentine’s Day, our fathers and daughters put on their finest clothes and best dancing shoes for a magical evening together.

Father/Son Putt Putt: When spring arrives, our fathers and sons tee up for an afternoon of mini-golf and games.

Mother/Daughter Tea Party: We celebrate our love for mothers and daughters with this fancy tea near Mother’s Day.

We have a number of special events throughout the year, and we hope that you will mark your calendars to join us for fun and celebration through the seasons.  Here is a brief description of each event.  The dates can be found below.

Family Retreat: An all-day family fun day with events and activities for all ages. Meals, games, and fellowship for all, plus breakout sessions for adults and children. Details about programming and a chance to register will be announced in September.

Trunk or Treat: Children (and adults) can wear their Halloween costumes to church on this Wednesday evening.  We will parade through the Fellowship Hall before beginning “trunk or treating.” There are also fun fall carnival games.  A festive evening for all!

Friendsgiving: This is a pot luck lunch after Sunday worship for our first through fifth graders just before Thanksgiving.  It is a chance for us to share our love and gratitude for our friendships at church.

Christmas Fun Day: For preschoolers and elementary aged children.  We enjoy Christmas crafts and activities, read Christmas stories, and enjoy a special snack together.  The Elementary children act out the Christmas story for our parents and preschoolers.

Easter Egg Hunt: We will celebrate Easter with an old-fashioned egg hunt and other fun Easter crafts, activities, and storytelling.  This event is for preschool through elementary aged children.

Children’s Sunday: Our elementary aged children are responsible for leading our entire congregation in worship on this special Sunday morning.  We spend many months planning, writing, and preparing for this wonderful opportunity.

Vacation Bible School (four year olds through fifth graders):  We kickoff VBS with a Sunday afternoon event for all children and families and then spend four days (Monday through Thursday) learning about God through crafts, recreation, music, storytelling, and more.

Passport Camp (completed third through fifth graders): Knollwood subsidizes the cost of Passport Camp for students who have completed third through fifth grades. A group of Knollwood chaperones accompanies our children to Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, for three nights of camp, learning about missions in our world.
