Join us for a full and festive season as we celebrate the Christ Child’s birth with a variety of seasonal activities, including our Barely Rehearsed Christmas Pageant, Messiah and Carols by Candlelight, Sunday worship, and a candlelight Christmas Eve service.
Copies of the 2024 devotional are available around campus while supplies last. This year’s devotional consists of scriptures and prayers on colorful card stock displayed on a miniature easel.
10:45 AM: Worship – The Chancel Choir leads us in worship that begins the season of hopeful waiting.
3-4:30 PM: Advent Wreath Making with Marissa Joyce (Arts & Hearts Room) – This craft is kid-friendly and for all ages. KBC will provide candles and materials, but please bring garden clippers and greenery cuttings from your yard. Register by Nov. 27.
9:30-11:30 AM: Wonders: A Contemplative Approach to Advent (WCC Community Room) – Join us for quiet reflection, creative expression, and shared conversation focusing on Advent. This group is for adults of all ages and size is limited. Contact Melanie Wilkinson or the church office at 336-725-1343 for information on how to register.
6 PM: Handel’s “Messiah” – Minister of Music and Worship Rozanna Goocey will help us deepen our understanding of the text and music of this famous composition. Though Handel’s “Messiah” is widely performed, especially during the Advent and Christmas seasons, many listeners and performers are unaware of its spiritual, theological, and musical depth.
4:30-7:30 PM: Mugs for Missions – Homemade mugs by Rodney Stillwell and Pam Boehme will be available for purchase in the foyer of Building B. Proceeds from the sale will go as a Christmas offering to the four international mission organizations KBC supports.
10:45 PM Worship – The Chancel Choir will lead us to prepare for Christ’s birth and reign of peace. We’ll also celebrate Communion.
5-6 PM: Messiah and Carols by Candlelight – The Chapel, Youth, and Festival choirs, plus a guest orchestra, present a service of beloved carols and Handel’s “Messiah” in the sanctuary. Childcare will be available.
6 pm: Sacred Music Speaks to Deepest Longings – Peggy Haymes and Susan Borwick have written and composed a special hymn for the Knollwood congregation, “Deepest Longing,” which we will sing each Sunday in Advent. This evening, they will share about their collaboration and creative processes as well as reflect on what sacred music does along our faith journeys.
9-9:30 AM: Advent Brunch – Gather in the Fellowship Hall for a festive celebration with food and fellowship before Sunday school and worship. Take a family photo in front of the Christmas tree and pick up your 2024 Knollwood ornament. Brunch items, coffee, and Knollwood punch will be served.
10:45 PM Worship – The Children and Youth choirs lead us.
6 PM: Barely Rehearsed Christmas Pageant – Our KBC.Kids will present the Christmas story on the stage in the Fellowship Hall after rehearsing only once. There will be singing. There will be laughter. But most importantly, we as a church will all be together to celebrate the Christmas season.
7 PM: Service of Remembrance (Sanctuary) – Members of our community of faith gather with families and friends to remember loved ones we lost this year.
10:45 AM Worship – The Chancel Bells lead us in a final Advent worship of the season.
5:30 PM – We gather in the sanctuary for treasured traditions of carols by candlelight, scripture reading, and choral and organ music.
